Partial Road Closure Pump Station Project Wood Nymph Road Closure

We wanted to inform you that a section of Patten Road and Wood Nymph Trail will be closed from Chickamauga Trail to Mother Goose Trail.  This closure will begin on Monday, January 12, 2026, through the month of October 2026.  This road closure will be a necessary part of the Chickamauga Trail Pump Station Renovation Project.

The city will provide residents with periodic updates via MailChimp, as well as include updates on our website (www.lookoutmtnga.com).

Reminder Reminder: Fairyland Extension Closed beginning April 24th

GDOT will be closing the Fairyland Extension (defined as the intersection of Fleetwood and Mockingbird down to the “Cut”) on Sunday night, April 24th at 6:00 PM. 

For a period of four to six weeks we will not be able to go off the mountain via the Fairyland Extension. We will have to descend and ascend the mountain by Scenic Highway or the “Cut”

Fairyland Extension Roadwork (published on April 12, 2022)

GDOT (Georgia Department of Transportation) will be closing the Fairyland Extension from the intersection of Fleetwood and Mockingbird to the “Cut” in the next few weeks, most likely prior to May 1st.  More information will be made available once the final date and duration has been determined.

The closure will be needed to address the landslide site to include constructing a retaining wall on the brow side of the Fairyland Extension, installing stormwater culvert(s), and repaving the section impacted by the project.

Ochs Highway Extension Ochs Highway Extension Roadwork

GDOT (Georgia Department of Transportation)  will close Ochs Highway from the intersection of Fleetwood and Mockingbird to the “Cut” from 9:00 AM Monday, September 13, 2021 through the end of the week.  The guard rails will be removed and work will be performed to temporarily shore up the eroding bank.  We will provide an update midweek to confirm the anticipated success of the project and reopening

Lula Lake Road Lula Lake and McFarland Road Work Delayed

The work to install a metal power pole at the intersection of Lula Lake and McFarland has been delayed.  EPB has encountered rock (surprise) and the advanced machinery needed to drill through the rock has been deployed to areas hit by Ida. Once we have additional information we will alert the community as to when the project will restart and when Lula Lake will have one lane closed.

Road Work Memorial Day Weekend Road Closure Update

Due to the many utility-related issues we have found beneath the road across from the Town Center construction site, we will not be able to reopen Lula Lake in advance of the Memorial Day weekend. We do not have a date for reopening yet, but it should be open before the end of June. DBS (responsible for the Town Center build site), Tennessee American Water, and SEC (Atlanta Gas contractor) are working diligently to coordinate the completion of the infrastructure rebuild that will allow us to reopen Lula Lake Road.

May 21, 2021 Road Closure Update

Never in our past have we had so many building and infrastructure projects going on in our community at the same time.  We appreciate your patience as we work towards the completion of our new Town Center and as our partners, SEC and Atlanta Gas complete the replacement of old gas lines originally installed in the late ’60s. The recent road closure across from our Town Center construction site is due to the needed replacement of gas and water lines, stormwater infrastructure, and sewer lines that cross Lula Lake Road.
