City of Lookout Mountain, Georgia

City Services

Garbage
Garbage pick up is on Tuesday and Friday of each week.  Each home is supplied with a green 90-gallon garbage can for household garbage only.  Please call City Hall if you are in need of a replacement.  If garbage pick up day should fall on a holiday, garbage will be picked up the next trash pickup day.

Brush & Leaves
Brush & Leaves are removed as necessary on the remaining weekdays.  The street department removes leaves with a vacuum and therefore asks that you keep them separate from brush.  Please do not block drains and streets, or place your debris near fire hydrants and/or busy intersections. Brush removal is limited to yard trimmings as the City does not have a stump grinder and cannot contend with large limbs and stumps.  Private contractors are responsible to remove their own debris. If you have a special occasion, please call City Hall and give at least one weeks notice to arrange a pickup.  We regret the City cannot pick up discarded appliances, furniture, or mattresses.

Recycling
Receptacles are located at City Hall for all mixed paper and aluminum.  Corrugated cardboard is accepted at the maintenance barn in the Town of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.  Plastic and glass are not being accepted for recycling anywhere on the mountain currently.

Sewer Grinders
Sewer Grinders are maintained by the City at no cost to the homeowner unless the system has been abused (please view the user’s guide for additional information).  Each grinder is equipped with an alarm system to alert the homeowner to any sort of malfunction.  If the alarm sounds, please call City Hall and a technician will be sent out to repair the system.
