Minutes of the
PUBLIC HEARING
For the
City of Lookout Mountain, Georgia
October 12, 2006

PRESIDING: Thomas G. Gifford, Mayor

PRESENT: Council Members Dennis G. Eischeid, Sandy Gothard, City Clerk Mary Katherine Harper, and Sewer Superintendent Brad Haven.

CALLED TO ORDER: Mayor Gifford called the public hearing to order at 7:30 a.m. at 1214 Lula Lake Road, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.

MILLAGE RATE:  Mayor Gifford opened the second of three public hearings on the proposed millage rate for 2006.  The hearings have been advertised in the newspaper and are being conducted in accordance with the requirements of Official Code of Georgia Annotated § 48-5-32.1 because the millage rate proposed by the City is in excess of the “roll-back rate” defined in the statute.  Mayor Gifford stated that the purpose of the public hearings was to inform the public of the tax increase and to have representatives of the City present to answer any questions and address any issues.

After discussion, there being no one present for or against the tax increase, the public hearing was thereupon adjourned.

Respectfully submitted,
Mary Katherine Harper
