REGULAR MEETING

For the

City Council of Lookout Mountain, Georgia

December 20, 2007

 

PRESIDING:  Thomas G. Gifford, Mayor

 

PRESENT:  Council Members Dennis Eischeid, Catherine Kelley, Sandy Gothard, City Clerk Dana Driver, City Attorney Bill Pickering, and Chief Wallace Taylor.

 

CALL TO ORDER:  Mayor Gifford called the meeting of the City Council to order at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 1214 Lula Lake Road, Lookout Mountain, Georgia. 

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:  The minutes of the regular meeting held on November 15, 2007 were approved as submitted. 

 

PEDESTRIAN PATHWAY NEWS – Councilman Pettway informed the Council that construction was proceeding as planned. Only one bid was returned for the lamppost.  Attorney Pickering advised the Council that the City can negotiate with the supplier on the bid or reject the bid altogether.  Councilman Pettway informed the council that the pathway construction will fall within the budget with some contingencies.  Kleenco Construction has done a good job being flexible with the traffic needs of the citizens. 

  

 

STORM WATER REPORT – Catherine Fox, our storm water consultant, met with Brad Haven, Storm water and Sewer Superintendent and Daniel Cates, to prepare the City’s 2007 annual storm water report for the Georgia EPD. 

 

 

REZONING REQUEST -  LOT 4-006 040, LULA LAKE ROAD,  FROM RESIDENTIAL TO COMMERCIAL  - The Planning Commission met regarding Mr. Irwin’s request for rezoning the property on Lula Lake Road and made the recommendation that the City Council reject the proposed zoning change.  The Public Hearing date was set for Monday, January 21, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. for the purpose of rezoning.   The advertisement will run two times one week apart and will run 15 days prior to the public hearing.  After the hearing, a vote will be taken by the Council on January 24, 2008 at the called meeting.  The January 24 called meeting will take the place of the January 17, 2008 meeting due to scheduling conflicts.  Copies of letters by citizens will be provided to the Council prior to the hearing. 

 

MAYOR’S REPORT:

1)  A motion was passed by the Council that City employees would be given the day off on Monday, December 24, 2007 in observance of Christmas Eve.

 

2) Chief Taylor reported that 45 luminary kits were sold for a gross total of $1,031.00.
