City Council of Lookout Mountain, Georgia

PRESENT: Council Members Dennis Eischeid, Catherine Kelley, Daniel Pettway, Ray Seipp, City Clerk Dana Driver, City Attorney Bill Pickering, and Chief Wallace Taylor.
ABSENT: Sandy Gothard
CALL TO ORDER: Mayor Gifford called the meeting of the City Council to order at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall, 1214 Lula Lake Road, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
RECEIVE, DISCUSS, & ACT ON A RECOMMENDATION TO CONTRACT WITH A CITY PLANNER FOR LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, GEORGIA – Catherine Kelley seconded Daniel Pettway’s motion as presented to approve the City of Lookout Mountain, Georgia entering into a contract with the firm, The Walker Collaborative, for the purpose of assisting the City with short term and long range city planning as detailed in their revised proposal dated April 6, 2008.
The floor was then opened for discussion. Mayor Gifford thanked Catherine Kelley and Daniel Pettway for their diligence in this decision making process.
The Walker Collaborative utilizes a very systematic and detailed planning process which includes research and analysis; charrettes, concept plan development; preparation of a draft plan; and plan presentation and revisions. These items are detailed in their attached proposal. The Walker Collaborative has informed the committee that this process should take approximately 60 days. Citizen involvement is a key aspect of their process.
The contract amount with the firm is $31,760. In addition, an amount of $5,000 was approved for additional costs that may be incurred in direct association with this project. Funding for this work will be provided from existing SPLOST revenue reserves.
The floor was closed for discussion. The Council voted unanimously to accept the proposal by the Walker Collaborative.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
